Cartoon pig + stupid parent = stupid decision regarding said cartoon pig
The BBC reports that a cartoon pig will now have to wear a seat-belt in future episodes, due to a stupid person. It doesn’t expicitly say this, but that’s the gist of the article. The sequence of events seems to be:
- Cartoon pig in fictional cartoon world doesn’t wear fictional cartoon seat-belt.
- Child ‘refuses’ to wear seat-belt because Peppa Pig doesn’t wear one.
- Stupid person (a.k.a. a parent) complains, rather than, you know, explaining to their kid that Peppa Pig is a cartoon and that everyone has to wear a seat-belt in the real world.
- Production company caves, and says they’ll also (at presumably great cost) reanimate all old episodes “to reflect the change”.
Let’s hope the stupid parent’s kid never watches Tom and Jerry, or the parent will presumably petition Time Warner, rather than telling their little tyke that repeatedly attempting to kill the cat is wrong, regardless of whether it happened in a fictional cartoon world.
Yep, stupid parents are all around. If I worked at the BBC I’d probably tell stupid people to **** off.
What?!? You expect parents to engage in actual parenting?
Surely the TV was invented in order to relive parents of that complicated and time-consuming responsibility?
I grew up believing everything I saw on TV and it never did me any harm, although I did once pull a series of comedic faces, saw a clear silhouette of my skeleton, and ended up with very frizzy sticky-out hair when I stuck my fingers in an electrical socket…
That was basically my reaction too. We seem to live in a world where parents want to (and are allowed to) shift all blame regarding their inability to raise and control their children onto the media.
I’m also pretty sure that there is no law requiring pigs to use seatbelts in this country…
“says they’ll also (at presumably great cost) reanimate all old episodes”
Check out the quality of this line work. I estimate the cost at a pound fifty.
Oh so you’re OK with the cat repeatedly attempting to kill the mouse!?
Peppa Pig has nothing to do with BBC. BBC just reporting on it.
Peppa has also been up in a balloon controlled by a rabbit that has never flown in one before, a trackless train made by her grandad, and a boat also made by her grandad in his shed.
I’ve just read Jerry’s comment above. Ha ha, that MUST be sarcasm. Why else make yourself look totally stupid?
